Hustled my Ass Home on Feb 16 to volunteer at the cool (like winterly cool) Talking Stick Festival! Then back in my Life Style Again!!
Hell guess I had a crazy short period of a couple days as left 35 C Buenas Aires to fly home for 20 hrs on a Friday! Then used some groceries my ex wife Irene brought over! So hell had to make some home made soup that had really been missing! As home cooking was the first thing on my agenda cuz missed cooking with the proper ingredients, seasoning etc.
But hey the reason I returned home from Argentina was to enjoy & volunteer at The Talking Stick Indigeneous Festival even if wud be a busy schedule for me with a bit of jet lag & all! Bcuz its my small bit to try to help & support Indigeneous peep, their arts & culture! Something thats so special & touches me deeply! Myb bcuz of how they are treated & shunned aside in the Canadian Society!!!
Then had a busy kinda wintery weekend as on Sat evening I volunteered at an awesome concert at the Russian Hall in D.T.E.S. for The Talking Stick Indigeneous Festival! As the show was called "Heartbeatz!"
Theme was to Get your finger on the pulse of the best Indigenous music around! Hailing from the Yukon, headliner Diyet (Southern Tutchone/Tlingit) invites you into a soundscape of rhythm, melody and storytelling. (Enjoyed her singing & wanted to find out if she had a CD or whatever but cudnt find anything myb bcuz she was from the Yukon & wasnt that commercial!)
She was joined by a roster of some of the brightest up and coming musical stars – which was guaranteed to rock the house!

Shit when the concert was over around 11 pm I walked out to a Snow Shower (like can only happen in Vancouver) so had a wild ride home on my bicycle!
Then volunteered again on Sun afternoon at what was called a Metis Kitchen Party which was a kinda Red River Jig & Square Dance Gathering!
When was telling my ex wife about my biking ordeal Sat evening! She told me hell it was colder & windier on Sun evening in North Van where my ex wife Irene lives! She said when she got home from working the evening shift at da hosp Sun around midnight! Her power & heat were off myb from falling branches on power lines! So she had to put on extra clothing & to go to sleep! Luckily the power was back on in da morning! So glad my power wasnt affected!

Anyway I cud then chill for a few days b4 back volunteering Fri & Sat evenings! Tho will not be volunteering at the Talking Stick Pow Wow during the day as was too late to volunteer for it! So will be just attending this event as really enjoy the energy & the dancing!
But will volunteer at the finale event at the funky Ironworks venue! "Kw'iyilshswit (kwee-yay-l-sh-swait) translates to ‘they're dancing’! - the perfect way to close the festival! Join festival favorite Beaver T (Cree) for an eclectic evening of entertainment featuring the groovy tunes and antics of the brightest Indigenous talent from across disciplines. Kick back, relax (or put yer dancin’ shoes on!), mingle with artists and share your memories of the last 2 weeks."
I enjoy volunteering at this festival as get to listen to some cool live entertainment by some awesomely talented musicians & artists in a couple of funky venues where most peep have to pay to see & enjoy this live entertainment!!
Also whats cool is find that peep who go out of their way to volunteer even with their busy schedule are real peep! As heck even been lucky to made a few friendships with a couple of quality peep! Espec since Vancouver is such a hard place to meet Real peep!
