As well a S.A. friend who lives in the Cape area couple hrs from Capetown! Where I stayed at this Guesthouse on the beach on & off for about 3-4 months a couple yrs ago! And I made some good friends at this Guesthouse!

Happy Nelson Mandela Day which is a global observance but it is not a public holiday! As it was designated by the United Nations!
This year 2021 it is paticularly important to celebrate this day due to the Riots & Looting currently happening in S.A.!

I was personally touched as I happen to be in South Africa on the sad day when Madiba / Nelson Mandela passed away!

I'll never forget the day he passed away as I was in South Africa! So saw how all the people were all so sad & mourned for days!
As I got involved with the mourning as everyone was reminiscing & buying shooters at the bar!
Wow what a sad day as heck I slept in the next morning & missed my ride back to volunteer at a music Festival out of town!
Which sucked as I never made it there at all! Tho I originally scored a ride in a back of a truck delvering stuff there! As rode in the dark back of a truck with a bunch of others smoking weed!
A South African/Canadian friend arranged a tent in a camp spot + registered me to volunteer! But fuck I realized I had left my cash back at the Guesthouse in Capetown! So got a return trip back to pick up some cash for food etc for the 4 day Festival!
But while in Capetown is when we all heard the sad news about Madiba's passing! Which is when the Irish Wake for Madiba began!
So I slept in the next morning & then cudnt score another ride back to the festival! Plus there was no bus service to the festival so I sadly I cudnt get back there!
But wtf U have to play with the handle Ur dealt! As basically everyone was sad about Madiba!
Where in the World is Tom?: Off to Volunteer at the Voltex Music Festival only to hear that SA's beloved Madiba/Nelson Mandela had passed away! Wow what a historic time to be present in S.A. on that sad, memorable occasion for such a Great Man!! Dec 2013
